Salvete, Amiculi! It has been way too long since I've updated you on things. September and October have been insanely busy months, but they have been productive ones as well! Now I'm here to share the spoils! THE TENSHU/AMICULUS GALLERY @ SHADOWBOX I cannot understate what a gorgeous, fantastic spectacle of the stage The Tenshu was, and I greatly enjoyed my experience. I even ran into David Mack, creator of the Kabuki graphic novel series, at the show. (He designed the fantastic poster and program art for the show you see at top left.) I also want to say what a great partner Shadowbox was in displaying and promoting Amiculus art in their gallery show. I even sold a piece (the blue cover), as well as several copies of Volume I in their boutique! Wins all around! AMICULUS @ OHIO UNIVERSITY Another fun occurrence: the Classics department at my alma mater, Ohio University, invited me to present a lecture on the Amiculus series to an undergraduate colloquium last week. Needless to say, it was a smash-hit (the trailers helped a lot, shout-out to the graphics and vocal mastery of Will Graver, Jim Azelvandre and Mark Mann), and I imagine I came away with a few more Amiculi than I had going in! VOLUME II PRODUCTION UPDATE I'm very excited to say that over one-third of the art for Volume II is complete! I've included samples of pages, cover concepts and alternate cover art to the right for both Volume II and Volume III: Damnatio Memoriae. Volume III is still a bit over the horizon, but it's thrilling to see the groundwork already being laid for the final chapter of the series. WHAT'S NEXT? Plans for next year's conventions are being made. I attended about a dozen this year, so I'd like to beat that in 2016. New submission pitches are in the works, with news on that as it happens. I should also be ready to reveal photos of Kickstarter rewards for Volume II before long as well. One additional thing...I keep promising to renew this feature, but it is somewhat labor-intensive, and time as been fleeting of late... but no whining! I will be creating a new set of videos reviving the dramatic readings of the Amiculus series, this time introducing the first few pages of Volume II. So stay tuned! |
